AIMS OF SABHA

AIMS & OBJECTIVES

The Main Aims and Objectives of the sabha are;

a) Unifying the Sindhi community.

b) Service of the nation and Humanity.

c) Preserving and Strengthening Sindhi Culture, Language, Heritage, Social characteristics and the unique Sindhi way of life.

d) Character Building

e) Development of Socio-cultural institutions.


AND With a view to achieving the Aims and Objectives, to carry out the
following Activities :-

a) Informal Educational

To impart guidance to parents on how to orient themselves and to impart training to children with regard to imbibing Sindhi culture within the framework of the Indian Constitution.

b) Formal Education

To run and Assist schools, colleges, libraries and other educational institutions and to provide ancillary services such as hostels and youth centres, where suitable ideals of Sindhi and Indian culture will be ingrained.

c) Promoting Literary and Artistic avenues.

To encourage Sindhi writers, poets, novelists, artists and in general to promote Sindhi literature, arts, research, newspapers, journals, books and other kinds of media and communication specially through the medium of Sindhi language in order to encourage the use of Sindhi as mother tongue among Sindhi families.

d) Development of Panchayats

To establish suitable norms in business and other occupations and to encourage the settlement of disputes thru Panchayats, and encourage the participation in social functions on occasions such as birth, marriage, festivals and death ceremonies.

e) Social Welfare

To run and assist organisations for social welfare including relief of poverty, medical and health facilities, homes for old people and the handicapped, orphanages, rescue homes, homes for widows, destitute children, pilgrimage shelters, etc.

Universal Appeal

The Partition of India resulted in grave injustice to a small community of Hindus who lived on the banks of the river Sindhu (Indus) in the state of Sindh (now in Pakistan).


This small minority was uprooted from their homes, their culture and way of life almost destroyed their ancient traditions which can be traced back to Harrappa and Mohen- jo-daro ground to dust. The Sindhi refugees spread out not only over the length and breadth of Bharat (India), but across the globe in search of safety, security and livelihood.


Sindhis as a community were in danger of losing their soul. There were fears as to whether this unique community would survive this dispersal. Whether they would retain their unique culture, sweet language, and resilient way of life? Would Sindhis remain as nominal Sindhis in name only? Would they ever be united as a community again? These questions troubled a large number of Thinkers among the Sindhi community.


In these circumstances it became essential for all Sindhis to organize, to come together for unity alone is strength. In the month of January 1978, Forty eight Sindhi thinkers and workers gathered at the Kumbh Mela at Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh) and decided to form an all India organization to represent the Sindhi community. Finally on 29th. March 1979, on the day of Cheti Chand (the Sindhi New Year) BHARATIYA SINDHU SABHA was formed; whose Founder Trustees were Late Shri. Jhamatmal T. Wadhwani, Late Shri. Hashu Parsram Advani, Shri. Hari Atmaram Samtani, Shri. Vasdev Valechha, Late Shri. Chatrasal A Mukta, Shri. Baldev Boolani, Smt. Ishwari L. Jetley Shri. K. T. Shahani, Shri. Mohan Motwani, Shri. Lakshman Chandiramani. The function was inaugurated by Hon. Shri L. K. Advani and was presided by Late Barrister Hotchand Advani.


Ever since its inception, there has been no looking back for the Bharatiya Sindhu Sabha. In the 29 years of its existence Bharatiya Sindhu Sabha has more than eight thousand members on its rolls and around 200 branches across the country and thus is the largest single organization of Sindhis. For close to three decades BSS has been working to unify Sindhis and bring them on a common platform so that the Sindhi culture, language and the way of life could be preserved and not allowing it to be extinct. Apart from this BSS is also active in helping needy Sindhis including students financially.


In the present environment it is extremely important that each and every Sindhi including youngster seriously consider it to be their solemn duty to contribute in some way to save its community and culture from being pushed to extinction. It is therefore must for each and every Sindhi to unite and come on to a single platform and that platform can be none other than Bharatiya Sindhu Sabha. We the members of the Yuva Vibhag appeal to all Sindhis to Join Bharatiya Sindhu Sabha today and do your bit for your language, culture and community. लुप्त हो रही है सिन्धी भाषा

भारतीय उप महाद्वीप की प्राचीन और समृद्ध भाषा रही सिन्धी अपनों में ही बेगानी होती जा रही है, जिसे लेकर भारत और पाकिस्तान में सिन्धी साहित्यकार, शिक्षक और सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता चिंतित है।

दरिया-ए-सिंध के साहिल पर जब कोई सिन्धी जबान में सूफी संतो की वाणी को आवाज देता है, तो ऐसा लगता है जैसे इंसानियत एकाकार होकर अपने खुदा की बन्दगी कर रही हो।

सिन्धी भाषा दरिया-ए-सिंध के संग संग चली है। ये भाषा युगों युगों तक लाखों धड़कनों और साँसो की सहचर और सहभागी बनी। इस भाषा ने लाखों लोगों के भावों को अभिव्यक्ति दी, लेकिन जब सियासत ने धरती को बाँटा तो भूगोल के साथ ये भाषा भी आहत हुई।

जयपुर के राजेश असनानी पेशे से पत्रकार हैं और तीन पीढ़ियों में बीच की कड़ी है। उनके पुरखे विभाजन के समय सिंध से भारत चले आए थे। असनानी कहते हैं कि नई पीढ़ी पुरखों की इस जबान से दूर होती जा रही है और ये उनके लिए चिंता की बात है।

मातिर भाषा : असनानी बताते हैं कि वो अपने पिता से हिंदी में बात करते हैं, लेकिन अपनी माँ से सिन्धी भाषा में वार्तालाप करते हैं। उनका कहना है कि शायद ये ही कारण है कि सिन्धी भाषा को मातिर भाषा कहते है।

असनानी कहते हैं, 'हमने अपनी भाषा को घर में सहेज कर रखा है। मेरी दो छोटी बेटियाँ हैं और हम ये सुनिश्चित करेंगे कि वे सिन्धी भाषा सीख सकें।' लेकिन नई पीढ़ी की बदलती प्राथमिकताओं पर असनानी ने चिंता जताई।

उन्होंने कहा, 'दुख इस बात का है कि नई पीढ़ी को इस जबान से कोई लगाव नहीं है। सिन्धी विभाजन के बाद एक ग्लोबल बिरादरी बन गई। इस बिरादरी ने बाजार के गुर सीखे और व्यापार में बहुत प्रगति की, मगर भाषा उनके हाथ से जैसे फिसल गई है। एक पहलू ये भी है कि हिंदी ने इस समुदाय को अपने में इतना समाहित कर लिया कि वो हिंदी ही बोलने लगे। मगर हमें अपनी भाषा भी सलामत रखने की कोशिश करनी चाहिए।'

भाषा के जानकार कहते हैं कि संस्कृत और प्राकृत सिन्धी ज़बान की बुनियाद रही हैं और इन भाषाओं में एक लय और माधुरता है, लेकिन उनका कहना है कि जब ये भाषा व्यवहार से ही हट जाएगी, तब इसे कौन पूछेगा। भारत में सिन्धी भाषा को प्रोत्साहन देने वाली राष्ट्रीय परिषद के उपाध्यक्ष श्रीकांत भाटिया ने बीबीसी से बातचीत में स्वीकार किया कि सिन्धी की हालत ठीक नहीं है।

उन्होंने कहा, 'हमारी युवा पीढ़ी को सिन्धी गीत संगीत और खान पान तो अच्छा लगता है, मगर वे इस भाषा से परे हो गए है। हम उन्हें वापस लाने और इस चलन को मोड़ने का प्रयास कर रहे हैं। हमारी संस्था ने इसके लिए एक अभियान भी शुरू किया है।'

इतिहास में रुचि नहीं : बँटवारे ने जब इंसानी बस्तियों को अपनी जड़ों से बेदखल किया, तो इसमें नदी, नाले, इमारतें और दरख्त तो वहीं रह गए, मगर जबान इंसान के साथ-साथ चली आई। विमी सदारंगानी गुजरात के आदिपुर में सिन्धी भाषा की शिक्षक हैं।

वे नई पीढ़ी के भाव पढ़कर कहती हैं, 'देखिए मेरी बात कुछ और है। मुझे ऐसे लोगों से मिलने का मौका मिला जो सिन्धी भाषा से जुड़े़ थे। मेरी परवरिश भी ऐसे ही माहौल में हुई थी। जब मैं कक्षा में सिन्धी पढ़ाती हूँ, तो कहानी किस्सों में बच्चों की रुचि दिखती है, मगर जब सिंध और उसकी संस्कृति की बात आती है, तो बच्चो की आँखों में वो भाव नहीं आते जो हमारे बुजुर्गों की आँखों में तैरते हुए दिखते है।'

पाकिस्तान के सूबे सिंध में शौकत सोरो सिन्धी अदब की दुनिया में अच्छा दखल रखते हैं।

वे कहते हैं, 'दूसरी और तीसरी पीढ़ी इस जबान से दूर होती जा रही है। स्कूल में सिन्धी पढ़ने की बात तो छोड़ो, ये पीढ़ी तो घर में भी अपनी भाषा बोलने से गुरेज करती है। भारत की तुलना में जो सिन्धी फार-इस्ट और इंग्लैंड जैसे देशों में रहते है, वो अपने घरों में धडल्ले से सिन्धी बोलते हैं, लेकिन भारत में तस्वीर निराशाजनक है।'

इटली के फ्लोरैंस में कारोबार करने वाले कुंदन वसधानी इसकी तायद करते हैं। वो कहते हैं, 'इटली में हम घर में पूरी तरह सिन्धी में बात करते हैं। मगर भारत में मैं देखता हूँ कि मेरे रिश्तेदार हिंदी या अंग्रेजी में ज्यादा बात करते हैं।'

उधर पौलैंड में रहने वाले चेतन असनानी कहते हैं कि विदेश में अपनी जबान और उसकी मिठास दिल को बहुत सकून देती है।

इतिहास ने वो लम्हे देखे हैं जब इंसानियत दरबदर हुई, जब नई बस्तियाँ बनीं और इंसान को बसेरा दिया। लेकिन एक भाषा के लिए तो इंसान की धड़कन, साँस और अहसास ही ठिकाना होते हैं। पर क्या सिन्धी समाज की नई पीढ़ी पुरखों की इस जबान को अपनी साँसों में जगह देगी?
